Nigeria's Hypocritical And Deceptive Battle Against Terrorism

By Polycarp Onwubiko

Vanguard Editorial June 15, 2024 expressed utmost exasperation on the much trumpeted fight against the rampaging terrorists and kidnappers cum variant of terrorists who are the Fulani herdsmen from the Sahel region of West Africa who have agenda for ethnic cleansing and territorial expansion.

The incisive Editorial said inter alia:

"Nigerians are baffled that our Police, security, Army, Air Force and other paramilitary agencies, with their equipment and full control, cannot defend our people and remove the threat to our nation’s territorial integrity against bike-mounted ragtag bands of criminals whose main weapons are assault rifles and improvised explosives themselves.

.... Many state governments have formed uniformed vigilante outfits. But without arms, they are just window dressings and a further drain on public purses".

My comment:

The sponsors of terrorists activities in Nigeria was exposed by a foreign country, (I think Saudi Arabia who sent the names to the former president Buhari. Sadly, Nigerians had their mouth agape while waiting for the prosecution of the sponsors of terrorists.

Who is fooling whom in Nigeria? The sponsors of terrorists stridently kicked against Restructuring the lopsided Federation with decentralized security architecture as integral part because they know that with Restructuring, state police will root out the terrorists and for the herdsmen, the cattle owners will be compelled to purchase lands and establish ranches because it is a private business.
