In a remarkable display of excellence, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences has rapidly ascended to the forefront of nursing education, setting unprecedented standards in just under two years since its establishment.
Under the visionary leadership
of Mrs. Chisom C. Ezulike, the current provost, the college has achieved
remarkable milestones, earning accolades from both within and outside the
nursing community.
Since its inception in June
2022, the college has garnered significant recognition for its commitment to
excellence and innovation. Accredited with a quota of 75 despite its status as
a new institution, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences has surpassed
expectations with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and dedicated faculty.
With well-equipped lecture
halls, modern ICT facilities, coastal buses for transportation and
demonstration halls boasting simulators and models, qualified lecturers of
adequate ratio, students at the college have been exposed to the latest trends
in nursing practice from the outset. This robust foundation has translated into
outstanding academic performance, with the college achieving a perfect score of
100% in both mid-introductory and first-semester year one examinations.
A trailblazer in educational
methodology, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences became the first
institution in the Eastern region to conduct entrance examinations and
Preliminary Training Sessions (PTS) using Computer Based Training (CBT). This
pioneering approach earned commendation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council
of Nigeria (NMCN), establishing the college as a leader in CBT evaluation
methods.
Furthermore, the college's
strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions such as Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital and various Health Centers in Awka South LGA
have provided students with unparalleled clinical exposure, giving them a
competitive edge in their practical training.
Such outstanding achievements
have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by the surge in demand from prospective
students seeking to enroll at Millennium College of Nursing Sciences.
Responding to this overwhelming interest, the college recently obtained
resource verification for its Nursing Department and full accreditation for its
Midwifery Department from the NMCN.
To the delight of the college
community, the NMCN has increased the quota for the Nursing Department from 75
to 120 and for the Midwifery Department to 100, a testament to the
institution's unwavering dedication to excellence.
As Mrs. Chisom C. Ezulike, the
driving force behind these achievements, reflects on the journey thus far, she
attributes the success to the collective efforts of the faculty, staff, and
students, emphasizing a commitment to excellence and innovation as the guiding
principles of Millennium College of Nursing Sciences.
In just under two years,
Millennium College of Nursing Sciences has not only surpassed expectations but
has set a new standard for nursing education in the region, demonstrating the
transformative power of dedication, vision, and collaboration.
The school enjoys and
appreciate the robust support of His Grace, the Most Rev’d Alexander Chibuzo
Ibezim, PhD, the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, and the Bishop,
Diocese of Awka (Anglican Communion). Archbishop Ibezim is the Visitor of the
College of Nursing Sciences.
