Grammy-winning rapper Coolio, known for his 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise,” died last year from an accidental fentanyl overdose, the Los Angeles County Coroner revealed on Thursday.
Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey

Angeles.
The coroner's report noted that the rapper
was suffering from heart disease and asthma at the time of his death, and had
recently taken phencyclidine (PCP).
Coolio's friend and longtime manager, Jarez
Posey, had previously told TMZ that he had found the rapper unresponsive in a
bathroom.
Coolio began his career in California in the
late 1980s and gained global recognition in 1995 with the release of
"Gangsta’s Paradise" for the soundtrack of the film "Dangerous
Minds."
He won the Best Rap Solo Performance award
for the track at the 1996 Grammy Awards.
