An 8-year-old boy, Master
Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka, was found wandering in Awka this morning and brought
to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command
Headquarters. A good Samaritan discovered the child and promptly handed him
over to the NSCDC at approximately 7:20 AM.
Master Onyejiaka, a student at
St. Raphael Nursery/Primary School in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, is
described as about 3 feet tall, fair in complexion, and without any tribal
marks. He was found in Awka without any apparent destination or means of
identifying himself.
According to SC Okadigbo Edwin,
Head of Media and Tactical Operations at the NSCDC Anambra State Command,
preliminary investigations suggest that the child may have run away from home
after being disciplined by his mother, Mrs. Nnenna Onyejiaka. However, he has
been unable to provide a clear explanation of how he made the journey from
Okpoko to Awka.
Despite the NSCDC's efforts to
locate his family, no relatives have come forward so far. Master Onyejiaka is
currently under the care of the NSCDC's Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, where he
is being kept safe.
The NSCDC has issued a public
appeal for help in locating the child’s family. Anyone with relevant
information is urged to contact the Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit or
the Head of Media and Tactical Operations at the NSCDC Anambra State Command.
The public can reach them at 08035771835. The NSCDC is seeking to reunite
Master Onyejiaka with his parents as quickly as possible.
