A former chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Awka Ward Two and the 2023 PDP candidate for Awka South One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Collins Okoye, has clarified his stance regarding the misguided information about his defection to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Hon. Collins set the record straight while speaking to newsmen during the Soludo Ambassador's Christmas Palliative distribution held at the private residence of the National Coordinator in Awka.

According to him, Governor Soludo has accomplished much with limited resources in a short time and has raised the bar of governance through outstanding performance and remarkable achievements. These efforts, he said, have set the stage for Soludo’s second-term victory.

“APGA is a great party, and I was once an APGA member before I defected to PDP after being offended by the party,” he said.

“I am back home now because of the undeniable evidence of the good work the Governor has done. That’s why I decided to return to the party and support the Governor in his bid for re-election,” he added.

Hon. Collins further urged other major stakeholders in Awka South Local Government Area, especially those in opposition parties, to unite and support Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in building the ‘Dubai-Taiwan’ of Africa.

Earlier, the Convener of the Soludo Ambassador, Hon. Ossy Onuko, who also serves as the MD/CEO of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), while welcoming the State Working Committee (SWC) Executives, applauded their passion and commitment to the mandate of the group and the leadership of Governor Soludo.

He went on to commend Hon. Collins for his decision to return to APGA, noting that it was a step in the right direction, and urged other notable stakeholders to join the party.

The event culminated with the distribution of bags of rice to the National Executives, Zonal Chairmen, Local Government Coordinators, Ward Chairmen, and Women Leaders, among others.

Other notable personalities at the event included the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor; the National Coordinator of the group, Chief Nwachukwu Obiora; Awka South APGA Chairman, Barrister Chukwuma Lawrence; and the Anambra Central Zonal Coordinator of Soludo Ambassador, Prince Obinna Ndigwe, who took turns to commend Hon. Ossy for his personal efforts in promoting the group. They unanimously congratulated and welcomed Hon. Uche back to APGA.
