Shocking
indeed! What prompted president Tinubu to create Federal Ministry of livestock
development when federal government all over the world has nothing to do with
Ministry of agriculture since it is within the constitutional jurisdiction of
the Federating Unit mainly the state governments?
Of
course it is hardly surprising because Tinubu has confirmed the fears about
Muslim Muslim presidential ticket by other ethnoreligious groups in the
country. Going by his body language, he is doing everything possible to pander
to the preferences of the Moslems whom he believes will support him for the
second tenure come 2027.
At a
time Nigerians are expecting the Restructuring of the lopsided Federation to
restore realistic principles of federal system of government, president Tinubu
found it proper to establish another federal parastatal in addition to the
Federal Ministry of Agriculture which was contrary to the tenets of federal
system of government where ministries, departments and agencies MDAs like
agriculture, health, education, security, motor license and plate numbers,
insurance etc fall within the constitutional jurisdiction of state governments
as was in the First Republic 1963 Republican Constitution.
Going
by this uncalled for Ministry of livestock development, the hope of restructuring
the lopsided Federation has gone. Nigerians will bestir themselves to continue
with the fundamentally flawed and fraudulent 1999 Federal-Unitary contraption
in addition to Centralized security architecture which has perpetrated the
pervasive and intractable insecurity throughout the country. Nigerians are in
for the worst phase of governance.
Of
course the leadership of Fulani cattle association has showered congratulations
on Tinubu for actualizing its dream of making a purely private business of
cattle rearing a federal concern and to be funded by the federal government
through the annual budgetary provisions at the expense and detriment of other
ethnic nationalities with their private businesses. Sorry for Nigeria.
