The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in collaboration with vice-chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, and provosts of colleges of education, will convene on July 18, 2024, to establish the minimum cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions. This crucial meeting will be led by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman.
JAMB released the results of
the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 29, 2024. Out of
the 1,904,189 candidates who took the exam, 8,401 scored 300 and above, 77,070
scored 250 and above, 439,974 scored 200 and above, while 1,402,490 scored
below the 200 pass mark.
During the July 18 meeting, the
JAMB Registrar will present detailed reports on the recently concluded UTME and
the ongoing Direct Entry applications. This will include an analysis of key
performance indicators that may influence government policy on admissions. The
meeting will also address issues that emerged in previous admission exercises
and review the performance of candidates in the current year's UTME to
determine the minimum admissible score for 2024.
In past years, stakeholders
have agreed on the minimum admission requirements for universities,
polytechnics, and colleges of education. This year's meeting will finalize
these requirements and officially commence the admission process for the
current academic year.
