By Polycarp Onwubiko
Vanguard Editorial June 13, 2024 hit the nail on the head on the gimmickry going on in the National Assembly pertaining to the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen wielding AK-47 assault weapons without license.
These
nomads and pastoralists have the northern borders flung open for their infiltration
from the Sahel region of West Africa courtesy of the Fulani irredentism in
Nigeria. These blood-sucking goons have been making life hell on earth for the
Nigerians while the supposed Nigerian security agents pretend that they are
helpless to rein them in or watching the body language of the landlord in Aso
Villa.
What
striked Nigerians who have been at the receiving end of the mindless violence
and slaughtering of indigenous people mainly Christians, was what the Senator
who tabled the Bill suggested which was to drive the Islamic invaders back to
their country in the West African Sahel region. This is the planned useless
ECOWAS protocol free movement across the West African countries with Nigeria in
mind for the dream Islamization agenda of the "Fulani Feudal Oligarchy and
Northern Political Emirate Establishment" who naively believe that they would
be dictating how Nigeria should be governed.
Hell
was let loose in 2015 when the patron of Fulani nomads, president Buhari
allegedly gave practical expression to the covert intention of the so-called
ECOWAS protocol free movement across West Africa countries without passport and
Visa. The northern borders were flung open for their infiltration of the
terrorists masquerading as herdsmen with weapons of war: AK 47 assault riffles
ostensibly to mindlessly slaughter people who blocked them from the already
planned agenda of ethnic cleansing and territorial expansion making Nigeria the
ultimate homestead of the nomads and pastoralists invaders who naively force
Nigeria people to swallow their socalled "Fulani culture of roaming
forests without borders with their cattle".
In
other words, it is only Nigeria that such primitive uncivilized cultural
heritage should be accepted because in West African countries like Ghana , open
grazing is outlawed compelling cattle owners to purchase lands and establish
ranches or move out of the country. This is an example of a country that values
Constitutional Democracy and good governance. Vanguard Editorial did very well
by supporting the Senator who advocated that the terrorists masquerading as
herdsmen must be shown the way out of Nigeria with their AK 47 assault riffles.
They must vacate the ancestral homelands of the dying and languishing displaced
people in various refugee resettlements in the middle belt states and go back
to their ancestral homelands and pick the remaining pieces of their shattered
lives since the confirmed dictator Buhari allegedly gave nod to the violent
pastoralists to carry AK-47 riffles in the name of scaring away "cattle
rustlers". But it have never been reported when the AK 47 wielding armed
pastoralists shot and killed the so-called "cattle rustlers" in the
northern part of the country. Who is fooling whom?
In the
incisive Editorial, Vanguard pointedly asserted as follows:
"What
do we do with our nomads and pastoralists, some of whom have become major perpetrators
of insecurity in Nigeria? Some among the once peaceful occupational group has
become armed and violent; massacring people, displacing communities all over
Nigeria and seizing the lands of indigenous people who had allowed them to
graze their livestock when they were peaceful.
"However,
given the fact that their occupation is also a very valuable resource of our
agricultural sector, there is no doubt that they need to be resettled into
organised ranches and communes where they can live like normal human beings and
law abiding citizens".
My
comment:
The e
pragmatic and strategic solution to the herdsmen rapine and mindless
slaughtering of indigenous population in southern Kaduna, middle belt states is
for president Tinubu to give marching order to the security agencies to drive
the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen from the Sahel region of West Africa to
their countries of origin. The next step is to have the useless ECOWAS protocol
free movement abrogated so that people have to obtain passport and Visa before
having access to a country that is not their own from birth.
The
Fulani herdsmen who have been in Nigeria for many years should see their
occupation as a private business and like other businesses carried out by other
ethnic groups, should purchase lands and establish ranches as obtained in
countries of the world in this modern day and age.
The
suggestion of establishing the so-called "National husbandry and ranches
Commission" should be thrown into the garbage because there is no such
public bureaucracy for other private businesses of other ethnic nationalities
in Nigeria. This is a ploy to channel humongous amount of money from the
federal government into the pockets of the owners of cattle who really have the
resources to establish ranches. The federal government cannot shoulder such
"sense of entitlement".
The
least state governments can do where the cattle owners purchase lands is to
help them with basic amenities and school in addition to primary school for the
education of the cattle drivers who should now be stationary and stop living in
the forests and jungles like wild animals. When they acquire minimum education
they would have human values and cannot be killing people anyhow.
