Service Chiefs Interface with House of Representatives on Causes of Insecurity: Farce, Fallacious, Hypocritical Posturing.
Nigeria remains an enclave led by a phalanx that has hijacked it, feeding the people and the international community brazen-faced lies and half-truths, maintaining a vice-like grip, pushing the country to the brink of a Banana Republic.
Apologies to the press in Nigeria, as major newspapers, radio, and television stations have been infiltrated by agents masquerading as the proverbial "Fourth Estate of the Realm."
Take a look at the VANGUARD Edition, November 25, 2023, reporting on the interface between the Service Chiefs and the House of Representatives. The title reads:
"Day Service Chiefs Spoke Truth to Power"
At first glance, you might feel relief that the Tinubu administration is addressing the monumental blunders of the previous Buhari administration regarding the pervasive insecurity in the country. Save your breath; Nigeria is still in an unspeakable rot because, as the proverb says, "a leopard does not change its spots." APC remains a cursed political party, founded on fraudulent calculations to perpetuate an ultra-conservative agenda, especially detrimental to progressive-minded people in the southern part of the country.
Instead of embracing the principles of a federal system with a decentralized security architecture, the Service Chiefs embarked on a wild goose chase to understand the roots of the seemingly intractable insecurity.
Hear the Chief of Staff
"We have realized that the magic wand to address insecurity is GOOD GOVERNANCE (caps mine). Anywhere you have GOOD GOVERNANCE, insecurity goes down."
It's unsurprising to hear such statements due to mediocrity in recruitment, promotion, and deployment in sensitive governance positions. These top security officials seem unaware of what GOOD GOVERNANCE means.
To prove that the "Leopard does not change its spot," the Inspector General of Police, dodging the decentralized security architecture issue, said:
"The Police were operating in a very difficult environment with inadequate manpower, operational logistics, training, and funding. I met a battered force."
The Service Chiefs dared not talk about decentralized security architecture, crucial for restructuring the lopsided Federation and restoring realistic federal principles, as practiced in the first republic and in sane and sanitized Federations worldwide. No, they prefer the dysfunctional CENTRALIZED SECURITY ARCHITECTURE, enabling terrorists masquerading as herdsmen to continue above the law, mindlessly slaughtering indigenous people, and occupying their ancestral lands.
When people warned Nigerians not to vote APC again, citing an extension of Buhari, it was dismissed as partisan politics. Now, it's evident. Intractable and pervasive insecurity persists due to entrenched, conscienceless, transactional political hawks playing lip service to security.
Core northern governors are willing to let their states be ravaged by terrorists and bandits, kidnapping and extorting millions from people, instead of adopting decentralized security architecture—a panacea to the menacing insecurity nationwide. Zamfara and Borno Governors, reacting to continued state invasions, prescribe senseless solutions instead of embracing State Police, which would allow states to secure their territory and revive daily life.
Uppermost in their minds is a centralized security architecture, making terrorists act like wild animals, living in forests and jungles instead of civilized ranches. They are foot soldiers for an Islamization agenda, a daydream destined not to materialize.
