respected female politicians, Senator Ekwunife has consistently demonstrated

Iyom

and impactful female figures in contemporary Nigerian politics. Her trajectory

Her
journey began in the private sector, where she built a reputation for
excellence, integrity, and hard work. As an Area Manager in the banking
industry, she exhibited a keen sense of discipline and professionalism, traits
that would later become hallmarks of her political career.
In
2007, Senator Ekwunife made a bold transition into politics. She was elected to
the Federal House of Representatives for the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal
Constituency of Anambra State, one of only 11 women elected at the time.
Re-elected in 2011, she quickly emerged as a strong voice in the House, earning
accolades for her effective representation, dedication to her constituents, and
legislative acumen. Her leadership earned her the affectionate title, “The
New Face of Nigerian Environment.”
In
2015, she was elected to the Nigerian Senate, becoming one of only six women in
the 8th National Assembly. Despite challenges, including a courageous but
ultimately unsuccessful bid for the Anambra State governorship, she remained
