Bandits abduct two female university students in Zamfara

 


Bandits have abducted two female students of the Federal University in Gusau, Zamfara State, according to a statement released by the Zamfara State Police Command.

 

The students were abducted in the early hours of Sunday from their rented hostel in Sabon Gida village of Bungudu Local Government Area. The hoodlums, whose identity is unknown, reportedly broke into the hostel and dispossessed the guards of their mobile phones before abducting the students.

 

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, assured the families of the victims and the university management that efforts were ongoing to rescue the students. He also stated that police tactical operatives have intensified search and rescue operations to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.

 

According to SP Mohammed Shehu, "On 2nd April, 2023 at about 0100am, Armed bandits stormed sabon gida village in Bungudu LGA and broke into a rented female hostel of the university where they locked up the two (2) civilian guards and dispossessed them of their handsets and later abducted two (2) female students of Microbiology Department of the university."

 

The police tactical team reportedly moved to the scene after receiving the report, but the abductors had already fled with the victims to an unknown destination. The Commissioner of Police appealed to the public for their continuous support to help the police succeed in the rescue mission in the state.
