Chelsea auctions jerseys to fund Atsu's school project

In a touching tribute to the late Christian Atsu, two of his former clubs, Chelsea and Everton, have come together to auction the jerseys worn by the players during their Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

The proceeds from the auction will go to Arms Around the Child, a charity that Christian was an ambassador for, and will fund the completion of a school that he had started building in his native Ghana.

Christian Atsu, who played for Chelsea between 2013 and 2017, passed away last month in a tragic earthquake that hit Turkey, where he had moved to play. His funeral is scheduled to take place this weekend, and the auction provides an opportunity to celebrate his life and continue his charitable work.

The auction, which includes signed shirts from all members of the Chelsea squad, as well as a variety of items from club legends, will run until 2 pm on April 8th. Fans can bid for the items at the auction by following the link provided on the Chelsea website.

Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, saying, "This initiative allows us to celebrate the life of Christian, an individual who was well-loved within the club and someone we deeply miss. On the weekend we face another of Christian's former teams in Everton, it feels appropriate that we look to build on the fantastic charity work Christian had started with Arms Around the Child to build a new school that will benefit orphaned children in his home country."

He went on to add, "Christian's wonderful personality shone through during the times we shared together, and any contribution to the shirt auction will offer valuable support towards the legacy he leaves behind."

The auction is not only a way to remember Christian Atsu's life and contributions but also to help make a positive difference in the lives of children in need in Ghana. It is a beautiful testament to the power of sports and charity coming together to make a meaningful impact.
