The Anambra State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency I.
In a statement issued by Dr. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information,
the government extended condolences to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly, the late lawmaker’s family,
and his constituents.
“The
government prays for the peaceful repose of his soul and stands in solidarity
with those affected by this tragic loss,” the statement read.
The government also commended the swift response of security
agencies, which led to the arrest of those responsible for the killing.
It described the breakthrough as a strong
signal of its commitment to public safety and praised the efforts of the
recently launched security task force,
Operation Udo Ga-Achi.
“Their
efforts are a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety
and security of all citizens,” the statement continued. “The efficacy of the state’s new security
strike force, Operation Udo Ga-Achi, has been evident, with a string of
successes since its inauguration on 18 January 2025.”
The government assured the
public that the perpetrators would face
swift justice, stating: “We
firmly commit to ensuring that justice is served speedily against the culprits
and all those connected with this dastardly act.”
It urged Ndi Anambra to support the ongoing security
initiatives, adding: “Together,
we shall build a safer, more secure, and more prosperous Anambra State where
everyone can live, work, invest, and enjoy.”
