In its bid to create a more financially literate, entrepreneurial, and prosperous Nawgu, the Onyibalu Foundation Outreach Inc. organised a Financial Empowerment Summit for Nawgu youths. The event, themed 'Adult Financial Literacy Conference,' was held at Okwudili Hall in Nawgu. The annual event also provides opportunities for those who align with the foundation’s vision for economic empowerment.

Onyibalu Foundation Outreach Inc., a nonprofit organization, is committed to transforming lives by tackling poverty, advancing education, and ensuring access to healthcare. Through initiatives such as scholarships, vocational training, medical outreach, and infrastructure projects, it empowers communities to achieve self-reliance. The foundation also advocates for gender equality, environmental conservation, and disaster relief, fostering compassion, resilience, and sustainable development in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Ichie Emeka Okeke, Founder and President of Onyibalu Foundation Outreach Inc., expressed gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. 'I thank God for the privilege to be a blessing to others through Onyibalu Foundation Outreach Inc. The joy that fills my heart when I see lives transformed and communities thriving is immeasurable,' he said."

Ichie Okeke highlighted the foundation’s vision and emphasized the importance of financial literacy as a powerful tool for empowerment. 'Financial literacy unlocks opportunities and lays the foundation for prosperity. By understanding how to manage, invest, and grow resources, you are taking critical steps toward economic empowerment and independence,' he explained.

He reaffirmed the foundation's commitment to empowering individuals and fostering a culture of sustainable development, urging participants to embrace the knowledge gained during the conference and become ambassadors of change in their families and communities. 'Together, we can build a Nawgu that is financially literate, entrepreneurial, futuristic, and prosperous, creating a legacy of hope and progress for future generations,' he remarked."

In his presentation, guest speaker Rev. Prince Chukwuma emphasized that consistency and focus are vital ingredients for success in life. He stressed that success does not come overnight but is the result of a continuous process that requires patience and dedication. He encouraged participants to prioritize self-investment for personal growth and relevance. ''Do something meaningful every day,'' he advised, urging them to develop habits that promote both personal and professional growth.

Rev. Chukwuma also cautioned against spending excessive time on social media, urging the youth to focus on activities that foster productivity. "Anything not adding value to you is taking away from you," he stated, emphasizing that success is rooted in mindset, not just financial gain.

He stressed the importance of reading relevant materials and consulting resources in one's field, stating that this helps reset the mind and increases value. He added that to have a better 2025, individuals must take different actions from what they did in 2024. “Success is not about relying on luck but taking deliberate, consistent action,” he concluded. "Life is what you give to it, and that determines what you get," he said, encouraging participants to take control of their future.

Entrepreneur and business consultant Mr. Chukwuma Ibekie, also known as Huge, shared valuable insights on the importance of financial education and strategic business planning. He emphasized that many young people face financial struggles due to a lack of basic financial knowledge, which is essential for managing money, saving effectively, and avoiding debt. He pointed out that financial education is the foundation for long-term financial stability and success.

Mr. Ibekie urged the participants to embrace the concept of 'small beginnings,' explaining that starting small provides the foundation for future success. He emphasized that beginning on a manageable scale allows individuals to build essential skills, gain experience, and accumulate resources, all of which are necessary for sustained growth. At the same time, he encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to think big, reminding them that while it's important to start small, they should always keep the vision of growing bigger in mind."

He further explained the difference between "good" and "bad" debt in business. "Good debt is money borrowed for investments that appreciate in value or generate income, while bad debt is money borrowed for non-essential items that depreciate in value. When managed properly, good debt can improve your financial standing over time, while bad debt often leads to financial strain," he said.
