There was panic in Ogun State as a 29-year-old passenger, identified as Anuoluwapo Aderemi, reportedly collapsed and died in a commercial bus.
Aderemi was said to be
travelling on a commercial bus from Papalanto Motor Park in Ewekoro Local
Government Area of Ogun State to Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the
incident happened at a filling station in Itori around 7:45 pm on Tuesday.
Confirming the incident, the
spokesman of the Ogun Police Command, Odutola Omolola, said the case was
reported at the police station by the bus driver, Akeem Olorode.
He said the driver was en route
to Ibadan with a bus that seats 18 passengers but was carrying only 15
travelers when they departed from Papalanto.
According to the police image
maker, while other passengers made attempts to administer first aid, Aderemi
collapsed and passed away inside the bus.
Omolola further stated that
upon receiving the report, police detectives from the Ewekoro Division were sent
to the scene, where they found the deceased along with other passengers.
“At around 7:00 pm, the driver stopped at a filling station in Itori to refuel. While filling the tank, other passengers alerted him that one of the passengers was acting strangely and had become unconscious.
“It was later revealed that the
deceased was a resident of Ibadan. He was transported to a state hospital in
Ifo, where a doctor on duty confirmed his death,” she said.
