Federal Government’s Brazen Deception On Security

By Polycarp Onwubiko

Punch Editorial 1/7/24 titled: "Economic revamp without impact"  exposed the brazen-faced hypocrisy of the federal government on its one year groping in the dark in the name of revamping the comatose economy created by the eight years of the locust of Buhari's administration.

The punchy, incisive Editorial contended inter alia:

"Revamping the country’s finances and economy requires firm and targeted measures such as improving security for any meaningful boost in agricultural production and stopping oil theft.

"Farming has become a dangerous occupation with thousands of farmers abandoning their farms due to banditry..."

The first step to stop the rampaging terrorists masquerading as herdsmen imported from the Sahel region of West Africa is to take immediate steps to abolish the supposed "ECOWAS protocol free movement across West African countries ". It is important to inform Nigerians that this so-called "Free movement of people from the West African sub region was the initiative of the military autocrats in Nigeria teleguided by the so-called "Fulani Feudal Oligarchy and Northern Political Emirate Establishment* who planned to populate the Moslems in Nigeria by flinging open the northern borders for the unchecked infiltration of terrorists masquerading as herdsmen from the Sahel region of West Africa in the name of" ECOWAS protocol free movement ".

It is also an important fact that other West African countries MAINTAIN Passport and Visa regulations for anybody's entry into their country because SOVEREIGNTY is integral to security in an sane and sanitized countries of the world. It is outright madness for a country to dump its Sovereignty (which is an integral part of security)and allow anybody easy access into its country in the name of "ECOWAS protocol free movement across West African countries". Who is fooling whom?

For instance in Niger state where the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen allegedly murdered over twenty soldiers but instead of the soldiers usually without permission from the Chief of Army Staff, swoop on the killers of their colleagues in the southern part of the country , they were restrained as the Governor rushed to Aso Villa and pleaded with the president to forgive the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen because according to the Governor, "they cannot leave the state" and go back to wherever they came from. Who is fooling whom?

Fact remains that until these terrorists masquerading as herdsmen from the Sahel region of West Africa are crushed and driven back to wherever they came from, forget about security in Nigeria, in addition to food security and crashing of the rise in the cost of food items all over the country. President Tinubu, by his 'body language' is dilatory in addressing the issue of the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen because the agenda for Islamization has been a well-structured plan from the time immemorial and the agenda is still ongoing.

It is immaterial to the Caliphate Colonialists “if their people are dying of hunger; what is uppermost to them is the dream Islamization agenda and Islamic Theocracy and Republic. It bears restating that "ECOWAS protocol free movement across West African countries" applies to Nigeria only for an agenda for Islamization. Any person can wish it away but this is the stark reality. The two African organizations viz: African Union AU and ECOWAS are useless organizations and have to be dumped into the scrap heap of history.

The leaders are brazen charlatans and hypocrites because they attend swearing in ceremony of presidents who brazenly rigged the election and also the few presidents like South African president who emerged through free and fair elections, invite presidents who rigged election to their swearing in ceremony. Have you seen how unserious minded African presidents are? That is how they are vainly and hypocritically planning for "UNITED STATES FOR AFRICA"!

Traditional Rulers Dangerous In Security Responsibility, Constitutional Democracy Must Prevail

Guardian article by Alabi Williams captioned: "Governors, traditional strongholds and grassroots security" made a lot of revelations on the uncivilized and primitive governance template in the northern and Southwest Geopolitical Zones whereby traditional rulers are given responsibility for security.

Nigeria cannot be operating Government in the 20th century with primitive and uncivilized style of governance ostensibly to avoid "upsetting the apple cart", as it were. In the hoary past, there could have been reason for allowing the traditional rulers in those parts of the country as stated above to be in charge of security.

Realistically, as civilization comes on stream, plus the imperative of Constitutional Democracy and Functional Governance by elected people, it is out of sync to continue to allow traditional rulers to be controlling security within their jurisdiction. There cannot be two political leaders in an enclave (call it State Government or Regional Government).

The practice of Democracy has to be total in all the nooks and crannies of the state in particular and the Federation in general. According to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, "Security is the primary responsibility of government"; it does not say that security should be the responsibility of the traditional rulers. There must be a yawning gap between Constitutional Democracy and Traditional institutions. The former represents modern day and age mode of controlling or leading people while the former represents the hoary past when primitive cultural practices held sway in the control of communities.

This is why it is absolutely necessary for the Tinubu administration to kick-start the Restructuring of the lopsided Federation with a Constituent Assembly of selected representatives of ethnic nationalities to brainstorm and fashion PEOPLE'S CONSTITUTION which takes care of the divers values, ways of life and world view of all the ethnicities in Nigeria. The model of the 1963 Republican Constitution should be the guiding pedestal in the making of a People's Constitution to replace the "Federal-Unitary contraption" Decreed by the military autocrats referred to as the 1999 constitution supposedly under Amendments ostensibly to pander to the primitive and uncivilized ways of life of some ethno religious irredentists.
