Quotes:
(1) "Our present 1999 Constitution as amended not only lacks legitimacy that flows from a democratically made Constitution but also has proved to be unsustainable for tackling many of the challenges currently confronting our country"---Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Vanguard March 19, 2024.
(2) "The 1999 Constitution
imposed on you and me, militarily, by a military junta, led by General
Abdulsalami Abubakar, 28 members of the Provincial Council. It was never
subjected to any referendum of the people. And guess what? The present
Constitution was attached as a mere schedule
"Nigerians must own their
own Constitution through a popular referendum of the people like was done to
the Midwest Constitution on the 10th of August, 1963 when it separated from the
Western Region. Without that, we will just be on the journey to no
destination"--Mike Ozohkome, SAN, Vanguard March 19, 2024.
Comment:
The BRAZEN-FACED bootlickers
from the southern part of the country in the 8th, 9th, and 10th National
Assembly have been members of the so-called "Constitution Amendments
Committee" normally lopsided to have the northerners in the majority so
that every section of the 1999 Constitution would be what the "Fulani
Feudal Oligarchy" wanted so that it would maintain its vice grips on the
corporate affairs of Nigeria.
For instance, since the
Oligarchy stridently kicked against Restructuring the lopsided Federation with
decentralized security architecture as integral part, the supposed Constitution
Amendments Committee rejected State Police even as it was roundly accepted in
the 2014 National Conference convened by former president Good luck Jonathan.
Of course the Oligarchy know
what it is doing in rejecting Restructuring with decentralized security
architecture because their foot soldiers (terrorists masquerading as herdsmen
from the Sahel region of West Africa) will be stopped in their open grazing and
compelled to purchase lands and establish ranches because they are running
purely private business like all other people running their private businesses.
President Tinubu is not likely
to key into decentralized security architecture because of his pronouncement
that he, along with the state governors will discuss it. He and the governors
have no right on such constitutional matter.
The National Assembly don't
even have the authority because it was a product of the fundamentally
fraudulent and flawed 1999 Constitution supposedly and deceptively tagged
"as amended". The sane and sanitized option is for president Tinubu
to convoke National Conference of selected representatives of the ethnic
nationalities to brainstorm on how to meditate on PEOPLE'S CONSTITUTION.
The barren exercise by the
National Assembly on the supposed Constitution Amendments must be halted
forthwith.
