In a commendable effort to alleviate the challenges faced by the residents of Ezeoye Community in Nibo, Awka South Council Area, a significant milestone was achieved as the Belgian Country Representative of the Global African Network collaborated with Hon. Ikenna Azum-Chinne, the President of the Care And Hope Foundation, to officially launch their organization in Umuonoli village, Ezeoye, Nibo, within the Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra.
The Global African Network, a
non-governmental organization established immediately after the 2023 General
Election, is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poor and less
privileged across various countries in Africa, with a particular focus on Nigeria.
During the grand launch, Hon.
Ikenna Azum-Chinne, the President of the Care And Hope Foundation and Convener
of the European Union Frontier for Mr. Peter Obi at the 2023 Presidential
Election, expressed profound joy and satisfaction with the program. He
articulated that his decision to embark on this transformative project was
rooted in the sincere desire to ameliorate the hardships faced by his people,
especially concerning access to quality healthcare services and other
fundamental amenities.
Highlighting that the project
transcends political motives, Hon. Ikenna reiterated that the organization is
here to stay and will primarily concentrate on providing essential healthcare
support and meeting vital social needs within the community.
Moreover, he emphasized his unwavering determination to revitalize the community through persistent and committed renewal programs such as empowerment, care for the elderly and the indigent, and other landmark projects that aim to enhance human capital development, foster connectivity, and bring prosperity to the community.
Mrs. Birgit Anna, the Belgium
Country Representative of the Global African Network, expressed her delight at
being in Nigeria to witness the official launch of the project. She conveyed
her joy for the overwhelming show of love from members of the community,
underscoring the critical role of adequate and efficient healthcare services in
bringing meaningful development to any society. Mrs. Anna reaffirmed the
continuous support and assistance that the Global African Network aims to
provide to vulnerable communities in Africa, especially those in the
Southeastern region of Nigeria, focusing on critical basic human sectors to
elevate the living standards of the people.
Representing the Community
Leader, Comrade Chinwendu Nwogbo, Mr. Emeka Nwankwo conveyed gratitude for the
exercise and called for more grassroots support and assistance in providing
social amenities to vulnerable members of communities. He noted that such acts
of charity would go a long way to cushion the effects of the hardships faced by
people in both medical and social aspects.
The Project Manager, Engr.
Chigbo Ubalo, described the initiative as a display of genuine commitment by
Hon. Ikenna to the welfare of his people. He expressed satisfaction with the
program, noting that it would impact thousands of households, especially the
youths and the aged members of the community. Ubalo assured professional
conduct, quality construction, and timely delivery of the project.
In separate interviews, some
members of the community, close relations to the benefactor, including Mr.
Nnamdi Chinne, Mrs. Ngozi Nwude, and Mrs. Virginia Eze, heaved sighs of relief
amid cheers of joy. They attested that Hon. Ikenna Azum-Chinne had once again
proven himself as a selfless, true patriot, and worthy son of Nibo. Expressing
gratitude, they thanked him for the special eye care service and took turns to
pray for God’s protection and longevity upon him and his European associates.
The event concluded with a special
eye checkup, the distribution of over one hundred high-quality medical glasses,
and individual dance displays by some of the women of the community. This
collaborative effort marks a significant stride towards uplifting the health
and well-being of the community of Ezeoye in Nibo, reflecting the power of
collective action and compassion.
