A Journey Of Love And Legacy: My Quintessential Parents

By Polycarp Onwubiko

How time flies! Time, they say, has a way of weaving tales that linger in the hearts of those who lived them.

In year 1994, my father, Mr. Edwin Onwubiko flew this mortal realm, leaving behind a legacy that would transcend time. Exactly ten years later in year 2004, my mother, Mrs Victoria Onwubiko shuffled this mortal coil.

It is now 30 years ago the inimitable gentleman left while it is 20 years the "virtuous woman" according to the Bible, moved to join her highly cherished husband. The ten years gap in their leaving this physical world was remarkable and quiet intriguing.

They lived in Abakaliki in the present Ebonyi State and we were born and bred up in the then township noted for production of the famous sweet Abakaliki rice and delicious Abakaliki yam. It was within this vibrant community that my parents, the quintessential couple, nurtured and raised us.

In reflecting on their departure, I find solace in knowing that their godly lifestyle has transcended the physical world.

Their departure marked the beginning of a new chapter, one where their teachings and values became the compass guiding our moral and spiritual journey.

Having cherished and leaved godly lifestyle, my parents now reside in what I can only imagine as "Abraham's Bosom in the Spirit World. The loving kindness and the legacy of "Worshipping God in the spirit and in Truth" is the greatest moral and spiritual training we inherited from the God-fearing couple.

I am reminded of the enduring impact my parents have had on my life and that of my siblings. This tribute serves not only as a reflection on their love but also as an acknowledgment of the values they instilled in us.

In a world that often seems transient and ever-changing, the story of Mr. Edwin and Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko stands as a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and righteousness. As their son, I carry forward their legacy, cherishing the memories of a quintessential couple whose love continues to shape our lives, even in their physical absence.
