There is no doubt that the government of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo has indeed achieved much and is still on the journey to attain more tremendous positive results in the aspects of peace, security, and development in Anambra.

One major milestone achievement of Governor Soludo's administration in ensuring the security of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra can be seen in the records of the Anambra Command of the Nigerian Police Force as it renders an account of its successful operations during the yuletide celebration.

Recall that earlier in 2023, several youth groups in Awka had taken the law into their hands, attacking, fighting, and even killing each other.

Therefore, the effect of the results of the maiden edition of the Ifeigbo Awka Peace Cup football tournament, put together by the amiable, hardworking MD/CEO Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), who also doubles as the Convener of Soludo Ambassadors, can never be overemphasized.

The tournament featured all the villages in Awka, including the ACTDA team. Umuayom village defeated Umuzuocha by two goals to one to lift the cup at the finals of the exciting and entertaining competition.

Umuayom village, the tournament winner, went home with one million naira, Umuzuocha went home with five hundred thousand, while Umudioka, which won bronze, smiled home with three hundred thousand naira.

Speaking at the end of the tournament in Awka, the ACTDA Boss, Hon. Onuko, while expressing his excitement and satisfaction, stated categorically that the initiative was aimed at fostering peace in Awka town and redirecting the mindsets of youths to responsible and productive ventures, as well as putting off all forms of social vices, especially cultism in the town.

While thanking God for achieving the major objective of organizing the tournament, Hon. Onuko pointed out that records have indicated zero accounts of gun-related violence in Awka since the commencement of the competition on November 17, 2023. He promised to continue hosting the tournament annually by the grace of God.

Also speaking, a one-time senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Ben Ndi-Obi, while applauding Mr. Onuko for his foresight and wonderful initiative, said that the tournament will not only bring peace to Awka town but will also serve as an avenue for breeding talents and urge the youths to key into the laudable programs of the government.

Contributing, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, noted that the final match of the competition was the best way to begin the new year and affirmed her interest in seeing such a life-transforming tournament organized at different levels of the grassroots in the 21 local government areas of Anambra State.

According to her, such an initiative can be organized annually to serve as a major promoter of Governor Chukwuma Soludo's sports economy agenda.

Other key persons at the event include Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr. Patrick Estate Onyedum, MD/CEO Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency, Engr. Hon. Emeka Okonkwo, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on ACTDA, who is the National Coordinator of Soludo Ambassadors, Chief Kenneth Obiorah-Nwachukwu, amongst others.
