President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has declared the Federal Government's commitment to establishing peace in the South-East geopolitical zone.
The declaration unfolded during the unveiling of the Peace in South-East Project (PISE-P) at the Sports Arena of Bende Local Government Area.
This initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Speaker Chief Benjamin Kalu, sets out to address complex socio-economic challenges and security threats in the region over the next five years. President Tinubu took the opportunity to underscore the pivotal role of the South-East as an industrial hub contributing significantly to the nation's economic development.
Expressing deep concern over the economic devastation caused by non-state actors, the President made a strong pledge not to tolerate operations by those masquerading as advocates of Ndigbo. He emphasized, "We are not going to sit back and watch the fire go beyond what we can handle. We are here to extinguish the fire permanently."
