Develop Your Skills To Eliminate Your Disabilities - Group Charges PWDs

The National Association of Seadogs in Onitsha, Anambra State, has issued a challenge to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to develop and transform their skills into abilities.

Engr Emeka Uwaechia, the President of the Association, delivered this call during a seminar titled "Disability not a Limit to Ability," held in Onitsha as part of the activities commemorating the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

Uwaechia emphasized that the development of skills could potentially eliminate disabilities, urging PWDs to focus on honing their abilities. He also called upon non-governmental organizations to provide employment opportunities for PWDs instead of discriminating against them based on their limitations.

The Association President reassured the PWDs of his group's continuous support, encouraging them to reach out whenever faced with critical challenges.

"You are free to contact the National Association of Seadogs anytime you face critical challenges. We will always welcome you and do our best to assist you in times of need," he added.

Elder Chima Egeonu, another member of the Association, urged PWDs never to give up, emphasizing that the only time someone can be considered disabled is when they pass away.

As part of their engagement, the group involved some PWDs in activities, including registering them for a Computer training program at Tetra Dipole Computers Training Center in Onitsha, whose Managing Director is also a person with a disability?

In response, Mr. Emmanuel Chude, the President of the Person Living With Disabilities, Onitsha Council, expressed gratitude to Seadogs for the opportunity offered to his members. He appealed for empowerment of the beneficiaries at the conclusion of the training.

Mr. Peter Aduba informed the PWDs that the program is part of a United Nations yearly initiative aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for the development of society.
