Chimobi Ezenwa, whose reported N300 million mansion in Lagos was recently demolished by the state government for violating the Lagos masterplan, has revealed that he and his family are now homeless.
The demolition, part of the
ongoing crackdown on structures violating the masterplan, started in the Abule
Ado area of the state. Residents were captured on film hastily evacuating their
belongings after a brief two-hour notice.
In a trending social media
video, Ezenwa expressed distress over the lack of prior notice before the
demolition of his property, urging government intervention. He highlighted the
severe consequences, stating, "They destroyed my property worth over 300
million here, and now my kids are homeless. I don't know what to do next."
Ezenwa appealed to the
government to halt the ongoing demolition in Abule Ado, citing the plight of
affected families and the hospitalization of children. He further urged the
presidency to intervene.
Williams Ochemba, another
landlord whose house was demolished, emphasized the prolonged negotiations
between landlords and authorities. Ochemba called for a more humane approach,
expressing the hardship faced by those rendered homeless.
Despite ongoing calls from an
established committee seeking resolution, Ezenwa expressed frustration at the
lack of response as the demolition continues.
