Mr. Ikechukwu Success Nwoye, the Chief Executive Officer of Iykecanada Writing Concepts (ICWC), stated this at the Mega Conference for Secondary Schools with the theme, "FACES OF EXCEPTIONALITY," held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School hall, Moot Court, Awka, Anambra State.
The conference had in attendance students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School, Awka; Stella Maris College, Umueri, and Father Joseph Memorial High School, Aguleri.
Mr. Nwoye, convener of the event, emphasized the importance of education as the cornerstone for a promising future for the younger generation.
He stated that the conference's goal was to nurture exceptional students who would excel not only academically but also in various aspects of life.
"The maiden conference seeks to empower secondary school students, nurturing them into exceptional individuals who positively impact their families, communities, schools, and society at large. By instilling values of excellence and personal growth, it aspires to shape future leaders who make significant contributions to their surroundings.
"This initiative intends to shape students' outlook on various facets of life. It aspires to broaden their perspectives on academics, fostering a love for learning and self-improvement. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of healthy relationships, personal development, promotion and preservation of the Igbo Language, enriching their cultural awareness and linguistic heritage."
Mr. Nwoye urged the state government, school authorities, and education stakeholders to collaborate in making this initiative a regular occurrence in Anambra State.
Dr. Mary Nwikpo, a keynote speaker at the conference from the Faculty of Education at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, presented a paper titled "Unlocking your potential: Academic Achievement as a Tool for Development," stressed the pivotal role of education in holistic development and outlined parameters for achieving academic excellence, including setting clear goals, active participation, seeking help, consistency, staying motivated, perseverance, and peer study groups.
Miss Tochukwu Godspower, also known as First Lady Akwaugo I of Wazobia FM, Onitsha, spoke on the importance of personal development. She encouraged students to explore avenues for self-improvement through skills acquisition, financial intelligence, attending training sessions, and reading informative books.
Dr. Ngọzi Chinweuba, a scholar and educator at Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School Awka, delivered a lecture on the promotion of the Igbo Language to prevent its decline. She emphasized the significance of preserving the indigenous Igbo Language and called on parents to revive the practice of teaching the Igbo Language at home.
The Principal of Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School, Mrs. Israel Ọlanike Atinuke, urged students to prioritize education and avoid distractions that could hinder their academic ambitions.
She commended Mr. Ikechukwu Nwoye for initiating this laudable program, which aims to positively impact the academic and personal lives of participating students.
The conference also featured various engaging activities, including drama, cultural dance, speech presentations on Social Media, tech exhibitions, and a quiz on current affairs.
In his closing remarks, the Master of Ceremony, Mr. Obinna Ngwubike, popularly known as Prestige of City Radio, Onitsha, expressed gratitude to the students, teachers, and the management of Iykecanada Writing Concepts for hosting the intellectual gathering, despite the challenging economic conditions in the country.
