Man arrested for uploading married woman’s nude video on social media for not paying him N3,000

An Anambra man, known as Chinedu, has been arrested for uploading a married woman's nude video on social media. He took the action after she declined to pay him the requested amount of three thousand naira (N3,000) to delete the video.

The suspect from Ezinato community in Awka South Local Government Area of the state, initiated contact with the victim through WhatsApp and Facebook. He demanded the money to prevent the video from spreading on social media and to avoid sharing it with her husband.

"I contacted the woman and informed her that I possessed her nude video. I told her she should pay me N3000 to prevent the video from going viral," he confessed.

When asked how he obtained the video, he claimed that his friend, Chiagozie Nwafor, also from Ezinato community, sent it to him with the intention of extorting the victim. According to available information, the victim had lost her memory card earlier in the year. A few months later, someone contacted her, claiming to have her nude video.

Interrogated by Mrs. Ify Obinabo, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, the suspect stated that he deleted the video after contacting the victim. However, he confessed that he didn't know his friend eventually shared the video on social media after the victim refused to cooperate.

He attested that the video was later traded for N3000 on Facebook, and many people claimed they obtained it from him. Commissioner Obinabo emphasised that the Anambra State Government condemns such behavior and has laws against it, promising legal action against those involved.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Anambra State Police Command and will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka.
