Veteran Nollywood star, Pete Edochie, has expressed his grief over the untimely loss of his grandson Kambilinachukwu Edochie, and praised the young man's qualities.
In a tragic event that has sent shockwaves
across Nigeria's entertainment industry, Kambilinachukwu, the son of popular
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, passed away on Thursday at the age of 16.
“Kambilinachukwu is a very quiet, brilliant,
and talented child. He’s not somebody you can ride easily. He doesn’t get angry
no matter the situation. He may change his composure, but he was definitely a
very unusual person in so many respects. He was so accomplished.
“I always tell my son that I don’t like
people excelling like this in anything they are involved in. Experience has
taught me that such people don’t last long," said Edochie.
According to reports, Kambilinachukwu fell
while playing football with his schoolmates and developed a seizure. He was
rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos, where he died a few hours
later.
The tragedy comes just two months after Yul
Edochie and his first wife May celebrated Kambilinachukwu's 16th birthday,
showering him with blessings and praise on social media. Yul followed in his
father's footsteps and joined the movie industry a year after marrying May,
whom he had dated for six years before tying the knot at the age of 22.
The news of Kambilinachukwu's death has
triggered an outpouring of condolences and support from the Nollywood community
and fans on social media. Many have expressed their shock and sadness, while
others have highlighted the need for increased awareness and advocacy around
seizure disorders.
As the family and loved ones of
Kambilinachukwu come to terms with their loss, the Nigerian entertainment
industry mourns a promising young talent gone too soon.
