The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has urged Lagos residents to be calm and avoid any actions that may lead to the breakdown of law and order across the state as a result of the victory of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over the APC in Lagos, which is considered as the traditional stronghold of the incumbent party.
According to Asiwaju Tinubu, the results as
announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), should not
be a source of provocation to residents of the state as winning some and losing
some is part of the beauty of democracy.
He also stated that residents of the state,
be indigenes or not, have a right to vote for the candidate of their choice.
The APC Presidential Candidate also declared
that as a Democrat, he is bound to accept the outcome of any election whether
favourable or not.
In a statement released Monday by the
Presidential Campaign Council signed by the Director of Media and Publicity,
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed serious concerns over reports of violence in
parts of the state especially reported attacks on some traders of Igbo origin.
The former Lagos State Governor condemned any
form of violence against people of any ethnic group in Lagos.
“The fact that the APC narrowly lost LagosState to another party should not be the reason for violence. As a democrat,
you win some, you lose some.
