A butcher has been found dead after trying to slaughter an unconscious pig before slaughtering it.
The 61-year-old Hong Kong butcher was knocked
down by the struggling pig, which regained consciousness after being stun
gunned and wounded with a 15-inch meat cleaver, CNN reported.
Police reported that a colleague found the
elderly man unconscious with a cut to his left foot and a kitchen knife in his
hand. He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Police said the cause of death has not yet
been ascertained.
Meanwhile, the city's labour department said
in a statement that it had launched an investigation into the matter.
“We
will complete the investigation as soon as possible to identify the cause of
the accident, ascertain the liability of the duty holders and recommend
improvement measures.
We will take actions pursuant to the law if
there is any violation of the work safety legislation,” the Labour Department’s
spokesman said.
