A former commissioner in northern Nigeria's Niger State has made startling claims about a radioactive device concealed in his wife's brassiere, which he alleges caused severe health complications.
Abubakar Katcha reported that
the undergarment, purchased from Minna's Kure Market in October 2023 and
labeled "Made in China," contained a hidden battery emitting harmful
radiation. His wife developed breast swelling, unusual discharge, and symptoms
initially feared to be cancerous. Their newborn also refused to breastfeed
during this period.
Health Scare and Discovery
After months of medical
treatment, including expensive antibiotics, the child resumed breastfeeding
until May 2025, when Katcha’s wife discovered foreign objects embedded in the
brassiere. Upon dismantling it, they found a small battery and an unidentified
substance that, when combined, allegedly emitted high radiation.
Call for Government Action
Katcha urged authorities to
scrutinize imported goods, suggesting the incident may be part of a broader
scheme to deliberately harm Nigerian women. "These people want to ignite
cancer so women depend on their medications," he claimed.
No official investigation has
been confirmed, but the allegations highlight growing concerns over unregulated
imports in Nigerian markets.
