Anambra Lawmaker 'Ojike' Warns Chiobi, Okparaezechukwu To Obey Court Order, Desist From Aiding Illegality

 By Ifeanyi Okonkwo

The member representing Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ojike, has condemned the actions of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ben Chiobi, and the Senior Special Assistant on Security, Hon. Mazi Chukwuma Okparaezechukwu, for allegedly using their positions to harass and intimidate his constituents.

In a petition addressed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Hon. Ojike accused Chiobi and Okparaezechukwu of abusing and ridiculing their exalted offices by acting as paid agents to torment, threaten, harass, intimidate, and unlawfully seize communal land belonging to his people.

The lawmaker alleged that the two government appointees have been deploying various security outfits, including the State Vigilante, Anti-Tout, and Agụnechemba, to intimidate, harass, and threaten his people in a lawless manner. He further claimed that they are pushing forward a market project in defiance of a lawful order issued by the Otuocha High Court.

According to Hon. Ojike, these individuals, as government officials, are expected to uphold the rule of law, maintain order, and promote best democratic practices.

"The matter had been determined, and an appeal was filed in 2013 at the Court of Appeal, Enugu, now Awka, under Appeal No. CA/AW/446/2013.

"The land in dispute is subject to a valid Stay of Execution Order in Suit No: OT/50/2009.

"The case remains pending at the Court of Appeal, Awka, to date. The Order of Injunction issued by Justice Anulude in January 2014 is still valid," the lawmaker stated.
