A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), High Chief JohnBosco Onunkwo, has been honored with a Community Youth Development Award.

The award was presented to him by the National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU Youth Wing), Comrade Ken Okoli, during an award ceremony organized by the association at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, on Tuesday.

The award recognized the contributions of the APC chieftain over the past 17 years toward youth development across the state through the JohnBosco Onunkwo Foundation.

Speaking to newsmen, Onunkwo commended the organizers for recognizing his humanitarian efforts, particularly in youth development, and assured his continued commitment to philanthropic activities.

According to him, his advocacy for a better Nigeria has earned him this honor, including his role as the Grand Commandant of all uniformed youth organizations in Anambra State.

"I am a man of my word. I believe in humanity and helping vulnerable people, especially the youth, to become self-reliant, empowered, uplifted, and united for a progressive society. My efforts are geared towards building a better Nigeria," he said.

He expressed his gratitude to ASATU Youth for the special recognition of his humanitarian services and pledged to do even more in the future.

"I am very grateful that my modest efforts in empowering Anambra youths are gaining recognition. For me and my foundation, this award signifies that we are doing the right thing at the right time," Chief Onunkwo added.

Onunkwo also commended the youth from Aguata Council Area of the state for nominating him for the recognition.

In his remarks, the National President of ASATU Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, stated that the award was organized to appreciate individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of their communities.

Okoli revealed that this recognition is the first of its kind since the association's inception in the state.

The award ceremony, themed "Celebrating Our Role Models," also featured the unveiling of the Compendium of Role Models, the launch of a 500-million-naira project for ASATU Youth programs for 2025, cultural dances and entertainment, and the presence of dignitaries, including the State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu; the National President of ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo; and representatives of other awardees.
