Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has called on Ndi Anambra to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and avoid peddling fake news that could tarnish the good image of the state.
The Governor made the call over
the weekend at the 92nd birthday celebration of Lady Christiana Mgboye
Ezeajughi, mother of the Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo, Mr. Ernest
Ezeajughi, at Osikwu Village, Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area.
Speaking at the celebration,
Governor Soludo, represented by his Chief Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff,
Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, emphasized the collective responsibility of combating the
scourge of fake news, urging the public to safeguard not only the truth but
also the sanity, integrity, and peace of society and the entire state.
Governor Soludo emphasized the
need for public enlightenment and understanding and reiterated the present
administration’s commitment to freeing all communities in Anambra from crime.
He noted that, starting from January 1st, 2025, the "Operation Udo Ga
Di" security initiative would commence, with no criminal in the bushes or
any community being spared.
He warned the opposition, who
are intentionally propagating false narratives against the current leadership
to score cheap points, and urged Ndi Anambra to continue supporting the state
government’s efforts in ensuring an effective security framework by reporting
suspicious activity around their neighborhoods to the appropriate authorities.
Soludo further applauded the
Ezeajughi family for honoring their mother while she is alive, highlighting the
significance of such gestures in strengthening family bonds and community ties.
He encouraged the youths to emulate such acts of gratitude and reverence for
their parents while they are still alive, not when they are dead.
In a vote of thanks, the last
born of the celebrant, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Chief of Staff to the Anambra
State Governor, thanked God for His faithfulness, especially for blessing their
mother with long life. While appreciating the guests, he announced that the
family would be offsetting the school fees of 200 students at a mission school
in Awgbu in honor of their mother’s 92nd birthday celebration.
In her remarks, the celebrant,
Lady Christiana Ezeajughi, expressed her profound gratitude to God for her
longevity and appreciated all those who came to celebrate with her. She
cautioned younger generations against negative lifestyles and encouraged them
to embrace virtues that lead to long life and fulfillment.
Earlier, the Parish Priest of
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nise, Reverend Father Bonaventure
Nnankiti, in his homily, urged Christians to commit to lives of humility and
servitude to God and humanity.
