In alignment with the vision of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's administration to build a clean, green, livable, and prosperous homeland, the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has reaffirmed its absolute commitment to professionalism and significant improvement in waste management in 2025.

Speaking at a special Christmas, end-of-year, and New Year banquet held at the ASWAMA administrative headquarters in Awka, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Mr. Mike Ifeanyi Ozoemena, emphasized the agency's dedication to its mission.

In his welcome address, Mr. Ozoemena expressed gratitude to the guests, board members, particularly the Chairman, Professor Emma Ezenwanji, and the agency’s staff for their attendance and contributions. He celebrated the milestones achieved in 2024, attributing the success to the passion, resilience, and commitment of the staff, as well as the unwavering support from the Solution Governor and other stakeholders.

Mr. Ozoemena encouraged residents to make proper use of waste bins and maintain functional dumpsites to promote a culture of sanitation. He announced plans to collaborate with the 21 Council Mayors and Chairmen to strengthen local government waste management teams, ensuring regular waste collection and fostering a clean, healthy, and livable Anambra State.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, commended ASWAMA for its pivotal role in supporting the state government's vision. He announced that Anambra is now ranked the fourth cleanest state in Nigeria, crediting this achievement to the agency’s leadership and efforts.

Engr. Odimegwu assured continued collaboration with ASWAMA, particularly in enforcing environmental laws, and urged the management to remain focused on making Anambra the cleanest and most livable state in the country. He also recognized the top three performing staff members of 2024, encouraging them to maintain their dedication.
