...Assures Ndi Anambra Of Calm And Peaceful Celebration.

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has charged ndi Anambra to use the Christmas season to reach out to the poor and needy in the society in the spirit of the Church and APGA Slogan, "Onye aghana nwanne ya".
The Governor made the call
yesterday at the 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons of organized by All
Saints Choir At St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Unizik-Tempsite, Awka, Anambra
State.
Speaking to the parishioners
briefly after taking the first lesson, Governor Soludo represented by his Chief
of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi thanked God for the gift of life and commended the
organizers and prayed that the great sounds and joyous lesson to herald the
Christmas celebration would foster peace, unity and love amongst the Anambra Christian
Community and beyond.
"Christmas is a season of love, hence need for Christians to celebrate in a way that depicts Christ, committing to the true ideals of Christmas and to see the celebration as an opportunity to share and exhibit love for one another, the Governor said."
He highlighted the remarkable
achievements of his administration especially in critical sectors of the State
and while assuring of a safe and peaceful atmosphere during the Yuletide,
beckoned on Ndi Anambra both home and abroad to come home and celebrate with
their loved ones and also explore the vast investment opportunities and
potentials of the state.
The Governor further enjoined the St. Joseph Catholic Community to continue to pray for him and his team to succeed in making Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland.
Earlier, the Chairman of the
occasion, Chief Maja Umeh, a former Commissioner for Information, culture and
tourism and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Engr. Victor Meju in
their welcome and appreciation speech thanked the Anambra State Governor for
honouring the invitation and urge faithful to emulate Christ's life of
humility, love and true devotion, describing the carols as a traditional
Christian way of worship and telling the stories of the birth of Jesus as the
saviour of the world.
In their separate remarks, the
Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Louis Nwobi, the
Choir Chairman, Mr. Augustine Nnadi, the Parish Choir Patron, Professor Emma Onwubuya, and Arc Nick Ojukwu
equally expressed their joy and satisfaction with the event and stated that
Anambra is blessed to have Governor Soludo and called for more robust
cooperation between the State Government and the citizens especially in the
area of information sharing to help combat insecurity and sanitize the system,
noting that Anambra has the necessary resources to become the best State in
Nigeria.
The festival was well attended
by many Christmas enthusiasts, and lovers of carols, classic music and live
orchestra especially , Church Leaders and students who turned out en masse to
welcome the Governor and also watch the special performance and music rendition
by the choir.
Other top government officials
who graced the occasion included, the Accountant General of Anambra State, Dr.
Sir Chukwudi Okoli, the Member Representing Ekwusigo State Constituency and
Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofoedeme,
represented by Hon. Ikedi Amechi, Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engr.
Ifeanyi Okoma represented by Engr. Obiudu Chidi, the Chief Medical Director,
Chukwuma Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike
amongst others.
