At its 36th session, ANSEC
ratified contracts for major road constructions, the development of smart
schools, and the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure. It also invited
fresh tenders for the installation of solar-powered streetlights in Awka
Metropolis, underscoring the administration's commitment to sustainable urban
development.
In line with the governor’s
vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous mega-city, ANSEC
approved road construction projects valued at billions of naira across the
state. Key projects include the construction of Trans-Nkisi Boulevard 1 Road in
GRA Onitsha at ₦2.1 billion, to be executed by Paul-B Nig Ltd and completed
within six months. The Nanka-Aguluzigbo-Umuona Road, measuring 8.906 km, was
awarded to IDC Construction Company at a cost of ₦7.5 billion with a 12-month
completion timeline.
The Mbaukwu-Awgbu-Amaetiti-Okpaeze Road project, covering 16.37 km and including a 22-meter, one-span bridge, was awarded to Cossel Construction Ltd for ₦10.95 billion, with an 18-month timeline. The Azigbo-Awka Etiti-Amichi-Onuselogu Road will be constructed by Akaeze Multiservices Nig Ltd for ₦2.6 billion and completed in eight months.
Other projects include the 3.57
km Igboukwu-Amichi-Ekwulummili Road awarded to Nevclinton Nig Ltd for ₦2.355
billion, the Nteje-Otuocha Road awarded to MacDamanox Construction Company for
₦668.7 million, and the 19.1 km Awkuzu-Igbariam-Anaku Link Road awarded to
Retro Construction Company Ltd for ₦6.18 billion with an 18-month timeline.
The council also approved the
reconstruction of New Market Road, Onitsha, for ₦1.3 billion, to be executed by
Boorman Engineering Company Ltd within three months. Additionally, the Aguleri
Uno to Aguleri Otu Road, a project valued at ₦8.3 billion, was awarded to Tamad
Construction with an 18-month timeline.
In the education sector, ANSEC approved
₦13.51 billion for the development of 22 smart schools across the state’s 21
local government areas. Contracts were awarded in four categories, including
the supply and installation of ICT equipment, solar power, school furniture,
and civil works. These projects aim to equip students with 21st-century skills
and prepare them for global competitiveness.
ANSEC also invited tenders for
the installation of solar-powered streetlights in Awka Metropolis. Interested
vendors are urged to contact the Ministry of Power and Water Resources for
specifications and deadlines.
The council’s deliberations followed the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Barr Sly Ezeokenwa as the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), marking a victory for unity and progress within the party.
Governor Soludo reaffirmed his
administration’s dedication to sustainable development, highlighting the
significance of these projects in improving connectivity, education, and the
quality of life for Ndi Anambra.
