The Anambra State Executive
Council (ANSEC) has approved several significant development projects aimed at
advancing infrastructure and education across the state. This was disclosed
during the 36th ANSEC meeting, which also marked the celebration of the Supreme
Court ruling affirming Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa as the legitimate national chairman
of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Among the approved projects is
the construction of the Trans-Nkisi Boulevard 1 Road in GRA Onitsha, awarded to
Paul-B Nig Ltd at the cost of N2.1 billion. The road, expected to enhance
connectivity, is to be completed within six months from the payment of the
mobilisation fee.
The Council also approved N7.5
billion for the construction of the Nanka-Aguluzigbo-Umuona Road, spanning 8.9
km, which will be handled by IDC Construction Company with a 12-month
completion timeline. Additionally, the Mbaukwu-Awgbu-Amaetiti-Okpaeze Road,
measuring 16.37 km and featuring a 22-meter bridge, was awarded to Cossel
Construction Ltd for N10.95 billion, with an 18-month delivery period.
Other road projects include the
4.56 km Azigbo-Awka Etiti-Amichi-Onuselogu Road, awarded to Akaeze
Multiservices Nig Ltd for N2.6 billion, and the Aguleri Uno to Aguleri Otu
Road, awarded to Tamad Construction for N8.3 billion. The rehabilitation of the
Awkuzu-Igbariam-Anaku Link Road, covering 19.1 km, was awarded to Retro
Construction Company Ltd for N6.17 billion.
ANSEC also approved the
construction of New Market Road in Onitsha at the cost of N1.3 billion, to be
handled by Boorman Engineering Company Ltd, with completion expected within
three months. In Omagba, Onitsha, seven strategic roads, covering 2 km, were
awarded to Bekks International Company for N1.23 billion, with a six-month
delivery timeline.
In the education sector, ANSEC
approved the development of 22 smart schools across the state’s 21 local
government areas at a total cost of N13.5 billion. The projects, aimed at
equipping secondary schools with state-of-the-art facilities, will include ICT
equipment, solar power, water facilities, and modern educational tools.
Contractors, including Bonitas Technologies and Marketing Ltd and Alien Core
Edge Ltd, are expected to complete their respective assignments within two to
four months.
Further efforts to modernize
education include a contract worth N197.5 million, awarded to Harriet Estate
Millennium Nig Ltd, for the supply and installation of equipment and furniture
at the Anambra State College of Health Technology, Obosi.
Additionally, ANSEC has invited
fresh tenders for the installation of solar-powered streetlights across Awka
metropolis. Interested vendors are directed to contact the Ministry of Power
and Water Resources for specifications and timelines.
These projects form part of
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ongoing efforts to transform Anambra State into a
livable and prosperous mega-city. The administration remains committed to
improving infrastructure and education to enhance the quality of life and
economic opportunities for Ndi Anambra.
