Aircraft To Land At Night At Chinua Achebe Airport As ANSEC Awards Key Contracts For Development And Security

In a significant move, the 34th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has adopted a series of measures to enhance security and development across the state.

The ANSEC approved several projects, including the installation of airfield lighting at Chinua Achebe International Airport. This initiative, awarded to Mercy Aviation Communication Electronics and Industries Nig Ltd for ₦489.7 million, will enable night landings for the first time. The project is expected to be completed in two weeks.

In a bid to improve security across the state, ANSEC has adopted a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, focusing on creating a safer environment for residents. The council also awarded a contract worth ₦125.8 million to Red Clay Consulting to develop a comprehensive master plan for Anambra's heritage sites, aiming to boost tourism and make these attractions commercially viable.

Among the infrastructure upgrades approved is the reconstruction of the entrance gate at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital by Triseconds Resources Ltd, valued at ₦112.7 million, with a two-month completion timeline. Similarly, additional property clearing and fencing at the College of Nursing Sciences, Isuofia, will be carried out for ₦150.7 million.

To enhance power supply, FrankTorch Nig Ltd will extend a 33 KV line to the Anambra Mix-Use Industrial City, Ogboji, for ₦1.74 billion, while Zamic Ventures Ltd is set to install a dedicated injection sub-station costing ₦1.24 billion. Furthermore, El Bukelz Nig Ltd has been contracted to supply and install a 200 KVA transformer at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College of Medicine, at a cost of ₦42.8 million.

Renovation efforts also include the Naval Base Complex at Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru, awarded to El Bukelz Nig Ltd for ₦76.2 million, with completion expected in two months. Additionally, Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka will be outfitted with UV-resistant chairs by Pazim Engineering Ltd at a cost of ₦715.1 million, to be delivered within six weeks.

To improve digital infrastructure, ANSEC has commissioned Octave Analytics and Insights Ltd to develop the Anambra State Solution Data Platform, valued at ₦97.1 million. These projects collectively aim to enhance development, security, and the overall quality of life in Anambra State.
