In a disturbing incident underscoring the saying "no good deed goes unpunished," a 37-year-old man from Chinhoyi narrowly escaped death after being attacked by his neighbor, whom he had kindly loaned money. Byron Kachimanga (24), a resident of Matura Compound, was convicted of attempting to k!ll his neighbor, Jabulani Mamanokora.
The incident took place on
September 15 when Mamanokora approached Kachimanga to ask for the repayment of
the loan. Instead of returning the money, Kachimanga responded with violence,
attacking Mamanokora with an axe and striking him twice on the head. Despite
the brutal assault, Mamanokora survived, and a medical report detailing his
injuries was presented as evidence in court.
Kachimanga was found guilty of
attempted k!lling by the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court and sentenced to three
years in prison, with one year suspended on the condition of good behavior,
leaving him to serve an effective two-year term.
In a separate incident in
Lubimbi, 30-year-old Qiniso Dube of Mafururo Village is facing murder charges
after allegedly stabbing a man to death in a jealous rage. The fatal encounter
occurred on October 20, 2024, when Dube and a group of friends, including a
girl, were heading home. When another man joined the group and began talking to
the girl, Dube became enraged and ordered him to leave. After the man refused,
Dube armed himself with a knife and fatally stabbed the victim multiple times.
Dube was arrested and is
scheduled to appear in court on November 5, 2024, to face murd3r charges.
