All Saints Anglican Church, Nawgu, Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State, recently celebrated a momentous occasion by holding its first Sunday service in the nearly completed new church auditorium.

This event took place ahead of the building's official completion and dedication, marking a significant milestone for the congregation.

The service also provided an opportunity to honour one of the church’s most distinguished members, Chief Emeka Robinson Okeke, affectionately known as Onyibalu Nawgu. A generous benefactor and philanthropist, Chief Okeke has played a pivotal role in empowering church members and significantly advancing the new church building project.

In his sermon titled "Passing On The Faith Generationally," Reverend Paul Chukwumemeka Nwankwo, Resident Priest of All Saints Anglican Church, Nawgu, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the church project. Drawing from Deuteronomy 6:3-9, he emphasized the importance of passing down a lasting legacy of faith and values to future generations, stressing good character, conduct, virtue, and the fear of God.

He urged the congregation to instill good character, conduct, and virtue, highlighting the central role of the fear of God in shaping one’s ethical and moral framework, as well as fostering spiritual growth.

Reverend Nwankwo described virtue as essential moral qualities such as honesty, kindness, and courage, which guide a person’s behavior. He stressed that these virtues form the bedrock of moral excellence and are fundamental to developing good character. According to him, virtues are internal and enduring, defining a person’s actions and contributing to a life of integrity and righteousness.

Encouraging the congregation, Reverend Nwankwo underscored the importance of upholding good conduct as an outward expression of behaviour that should align with their inner virtues and strong character. He reiterated the need to consistently demonstrate the fear of God in their actions and to pass these values on to the next generation, thereby ensuring a lasting legacy of faith and moral fortitude.

Present at the service to offer their spiritual support were Revd. Canon Bonny Ogaraku, Supervising Priest of Ukuwulu Archdeaconry; Revd. Chibuzor Obi, Parish Priest of St. Andrew's Parish, Nawgu; and Seminarian Ezekiel Levi Uchechukwu. They encouraged members of All Saints Anglican Church on the significance of advancing God's kingdom and underlined the importance of unity and commitment to the faith.

At the conclusion of the service, the congregation gathered to cut a birthday cake in honour of Chief Emeka Robinson Okeke. Represented by his son, KC Okeke, Chief Okeke expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God and reaffirmed his commitment to furthering the advancement of God's kingdom and improving the well-being of humanity.

His unwavering dedication to being a blessing to others was further demonstrated by his generous financial support to several dedicated church members at the event, significantly uplifting the community and contributing to their overall well-being.
