Pep Guardiola has said he would like goalkeeper Ederson to remain at Manchester City but does not know if he will.

The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr and Al Ittihad among the teams reportedly showing interest.

derson played the second half of City’s 4-3 defeat to Celtic in their first pre-season match in the United States.

Afterwards, Guardiola expressed his desire to keep the goalkeeper at the club for the following season.

"I don't know. He has to see maybe now other options," he said. "Of course I'd like him to stay. Depends now [on] the clubs.

"I don't know the situation, no contact in the last days. A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes and we see what happens."

Ederson, who has been at City since 2017 and has won six Premier League titles with the club, has two years left on his contract.

"He's been the keeper for the team that has incredible success the last seven or eight years," Guardiola said. "We have an incredible three keepers, especially the two who play regularly. A really important position in the team. Really good team [of keepers].

"We will see until the last day of the transfer window when anything can happen. Not just Ederson but many players."

Guardiola also commented on the future of Kalvin Phillips, who failed to impress during a loan spell at West Ham during the second half of last season.

The 28-year-old midfielder was taken off at half-time against Celtic, although Guardiola insisted this was part of his recovery plan after suffering an injury in May.

"That’s why we didn’t give him more minutes," Guardiola said. "I don't know what's going to happen. He knows the situation, and we'll see."
