A man has been arrested in Adamawa
State on charge of killing his close friend and seizing his motorcycle and
N20,000 cash.
The man, 25-year-old Yahaya
Balarabe, stabbed the friend, identified simply as Usman, until he died,
according to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman
Nguroje.
Nguroje stated that the suspect
murdered the deceased and robbed him of his motorcycle and a cash of N20,000 on
July 17, 2024.
The accused, who hails from
Dage Village in Ganye Local Government Area, went with his victim to his farm
supposedly to assist him in spraying herbicides, Nguroje stated.
The Police spokesman added that
the suspect attacked and killed Usman by stabbing him with a cutlass in the
head and throwing the corpse in a gutter.
He said police operatives nabbed
Balarabe after Usman’s family members reported the matter and the operatives
recovered material evidence at the crime scene that indicated Balarabe as the
prime suspect.
He added that Balarabe had also
voluntarily confessed to the crime and admitted that he was only keen about
possessing Usman’s motorcycle and money.
“The Commissioner of Police,
Dankombo Morris, expressing concern over the unfortunate incident, commended
operatives of Ganye Divisional Police headquarters for detecting the crime and
making it impossible for the suspect to escape justice,” Nguroje stated.
