The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has opened more channels of engagement in his advocacy for a Policing Plan that is poised to hear from everyone and anyone who will help the Police and Security Agencies in enforcing the law and maintaining public order and safety in the State.
Addressing the Anambra Central
Senatorial Traditional Rulers Forum during their monthly meeting at Awka South
Local Government Headquarters, Awka, CP Itam assured the Royal fathers of
accessibility saying that he would like the monarchs to assist the security
agencies with information that will help the police ensure security of the
community and their people.
During the interaction, the CP
noted that the traditional rulers as the custodians of our cultural heritage
were among the first levels of law enforcers as they deal with native and
custom laws of the land.
He stated that these laws if
properly enforced at their level, some societal menace shall not generate
serious criminal behavior among teeming youths in the State.
According to a press release
signed by the PPRO SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State command also calls for honest
and patriotic involvement to collectively not mind our differences, join our
voices together in condemning any act that is wrong and threatens our national
peace.
Finally, to sustain the message
of peace, the Police boss seeks their cooperation to use their position to open
more channels of communication with their subjects and resolve to work together
and discuss those issues that tears us apart.
Responding on behalf of the
Forum, the Chairman, HRH Igwe O. D. Ezeani Ugonabo Neni noted that this is the
first of its kind, and thanked the Commissioner for coming and assures maximum
support of the Forum to the Police Command and Other Security Agencies.
The CP addressed some of the
concerns of the traditional rulers and proposed more elaborate deliberation
where all relevant stakeholders and Government agencies shall be in attendance
