Why is it that every five years for a review of minimum wage has always been a tug-of-war in Nigeria? Does such despicable state of affairs happen in other countries? I think it does not because of the civilized mindset of the political leadership and more importantly the sane and sanitized leadership selection process.
In Nigeria which is obviously
labouring under generational curses sequel to the monstrousities,
atrocities, nihilist and abominable
things being done under the nose of the past presidents like horrendous
atrocities perpetrated by the terrorists masquerading as herdsmen going about
with AK 47 rifles with which they mindlessly slaughtered and continue to
slaughter indefensible people while the supposed Nigerian police and sister
security agencies pretend that they are helpless in checkmating the herdsmen
rapine obviously on a well set out religious agenda.
To say that God is very
displeased and angry with the leadership of Nigeria, is merely stating the
obvious. God who took a lot of thinking and time to create Man has seen how the
bloodsucking demons masquerading as herdsmen are wasting lives created by God
which amounts to a blatant insult to Him while the past and present presidents
of Nigeria became so inebriated with only God knows and consciously refused to
wipe out these vermin who share the same mindset with wild animals which they
cohabit in the forests and jungles in the name of "Nomadic cultural
heritage of open grazing of cattle".
While other countries with
civilized leadership mindset rubbish such primitive, uncivilized and medieval
way of life and made ranching cattle a drastic Law to be adhered to since
cattle and human beings cannot be contesting for roads not to talk about
driving them into farmlands to eat up farm products and slaughter farmers who
cry against such man's inhumanity to man, and a calculated wickedness from the
pit of hell.
Daily Sun Editorial June 3,
2024 expressing utter disappointment with the Federal Government on its
pittance that is supposed to be what it can afford for minimum wage in this
crises-ridden economic situation in Nigeria pointedly submitted as follows:
"It will be difficult to
convince the NLC and TUC to back down on their demands when government lives in
opulence. If the National Assembly can allocate over N130 million and N150
million to each member of the House of Representatives and the Senate for purchase
of cars, asking the workers to accept peanuts is unacceptable.
"The cost of living has
generally gone up. Inflation has eaten very deep into the meagre earnings of
families. Prices of basic food items have gone up. Electricity tariff has been
hiked beyond the reach of the common man. Failure to adequately addressing the
demands of the workers is a recipe for corruption".
***My comment:
It is only in the country where
its leadership wallow in crass frivolity and scoffing disregard for the working
class that such despicable amount of money, N60,000 should be what the federal
government can afford to the extent that it dared the organized labour to do
its worse; of course, calling workers on strike which will paralyze the entire
socioeconomic situation in the country. Of course, Nigerian political leaders
are unperturbed by labour unions strike because what they reason or perceive as
Government is mindless looting of public funds to fund their obscene opulence
and wayward lifestyle. Sorry for Nigeria.
