A shocking confession has emerged following the arrest of a suspect linked to the tragic murder of Ms. Glory Akpaku in Delta State's Akpoveta School. The suspect, whose identity has been withheld, disclosed details of the crime in a chilling interrogation video shared by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on Monday.
According to the video, the
suspect admitted to fatally stabbing Akpaku multiple times, alleging that she
was his "sugar mummy" prior to her demise. The motive behind the
gruesome act, as revealed by the suspect, stemmed from a dispute over the sum
of N100,000. It is reported that the deceased had been entrusted with the money
for safekeeping, but when the suspect sought to retrieve it, she allegedly
refused.
In a translated account
provided by the suspect, tensions escalated when Akpaku insisted on withholding
the funds until her return from the market, prompting the suspect to threaten
revealing their relationship to her son. In a tragic turn of events, Akpaku
countered the threat by vowing not to return the money if exposed. This
confrontation allegedly triggered the suspect to violently attack her with a
knife, inflicting fatal wounds to her neck, hand, and stomach.
Expressing remorse for his
actions, the suspect attributed the incident to the influence of malevolent
forces, stating, "NA DEVIL WORK." In response to the chilling
confession, Edafe urged the public to heed the cautionary tale and learn from
the mistakes highlighted in the case.
Providing further updates on
the investigation, Edafe confirmed that the incident occurred in April, and
assured that the suspect will face charges once the inquiry is concluded. The development
has sent shockwaves through the community, serving as a stark reminder of the
tragic consequences that can arise from disputes fueled by greed and betrayal.
The case continues to unfold as
authorities strive to deliver justice for the victim and her grieving loved
ones.
