The Police Command in Rivers has rescued 12 victims of child trafficking during a sting operation on two suspected baby factories in the state.
The
command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the latest development
to newsman on Tuesday noted that the command has also arrested four suspects in
connection to the baby factories in the state.
However,
while one of the victims was interviewed by newmen, she revealed that after
they successfully bore a child for their boss, they usually get at least
N500,000 as compensation, while their boss takes the child.
While
confessing, the victim said,
“We
were all forcefully kept in the factory after we were brainwashed by our boss.
We were lured into the illegal sale of our children because we were promised
money to meet our financial challenges and in every successful pregnancy
delivery, our boss used to give us N500,000 and they she carries the baby
away“.
