President Tinubu And Shameful Performance In One Year In Office

By Polycarp Onwubiko

Punch Editorial captioned: "TINUBU'S FIRST ANNIVERSARY: ERA OF PAIN", May 29, 2024, spoke volumes on the monstrosities and disastrous performance cum unspeakable privation which the masses are passing through in addition to unbaiting mindless slaughtering of people and kidnapping syndicate with humongous ransom extortion This is what the "Emilokan" presidency has to offer Nigerians suffocating under the multi-dimensional poverty ravaging the entire landscape of the country.

The incisive Editorial said inter alia:

"Beyond regular meetings with the security chiefs, Tinubu seems to have no strategy for taming the violence. His lack of a plan is seen in the rampage by bandits, Islamic terrorists, Fulani herdsmen attacks on farmers, and abductions across the country.

"Like Buhari, Tinubu ensconces himself in the Aso Rock fortress without identifying with the victims of violence by visiting the scene of the crime. He should show more empathy.

"Tinubu is toeing the path of his predecessors on restructuring. This is ludicrous. It is wishful thinking to believe that Nigeria will make progress without restructuring.

"The President should make restructuring a priority. It will unleash Nigeria’s productive capacity, rebuild trust in governance, improve security, and de-escalate inter-ethnic tensions".

****My comment:

Unfortunately for Nigerians, any person or group expecting anything different from what have happened in the past one year in the governance of Nigeria, is luxuriating in a pipedream.

Mark you, there will be nothing like restructuring the lopsided Federation to reinvent True Fiscal Federalism with the decentralized security architecture as integral part of restructuring governance. This is a "no-go area" furtively allegedly 'covenanted' between "Emilokan" presidency and the purported owners of Nigeria, the support "Northern Political Emirate Establishment and Fulani Feudal Oligarchy".
