State Police: A Daydream For Nigerians, Please Forget About It

 By Polycarp Onwubiko

Tribune newspaper Editorial April 23, 2024 captioned: "Tinubu's pledge on police reform" laid bare the mind of president Tinubu on his scoffing disregard for the much trumpeted State Police. It has put a final seal on the expectations of to have a multi policing system as obtained in sane and sanitized Federations the world over.

The point-blank Editorial said inter alia based on the president's speech titled: "Courage under fire: A bouquet for our police force".

"Nigerians have complained about indiscipline, arbitrariness, unprofessionalism and brutality by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) while they barely deliver on their primary mandate of protection of life and property. Perhaps that is about to change presently if President Bola Tinubu chooses to be different from his predecessors and makes good on his promise to carry out fundamental reforms in the force".

President Tinubu's speech was to say the least, comical because there was no mention of his preparedness for State Police. The forum was the Transcorp Hilton hotel Abuja and represented by the Vice President.

Tinubu's mindset is gradually unfolding which will of course will be in sync with his predecessor's cataclysmic style of governance to further the frontier of the much trumpeted islamization agenda. The Islamization agenda does not brook anything like Restructuring the lopsided Federation and decentralized security architecture because these two strategic areas in governance have been identified as a formidable stumbling block to the actualization of the age long deft and devious plan to "Throw the Koran into the Atlantic Ocean" according to their primary progenitors who allegedly boasted that Nigeria was given to them by Allah.

Tinubu's mindset in government has proved his declaration that he would continue where his predecessor Buhari stopped. Recall that Buhari hated with passion the nationwide clarion calls for the immediate Restructuring of the country to reinvent the principles of federal system of government as was obtained in the First Republic backed with the 1963 Republican Constitution. The Fulani Feudal Oligarchy have stridently kicked against Restructuring the Federation with decentralized security architecture as integral part because it would stop their foot soldiers who have been identified by a world to be the fourth terrorists organizations in the world.

Forget about the monkey tricks going on in the lopsided National Assembly in the name "Constitution Amendments" geared towards meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the "Northern Political Emirate Establishment and Fulani Feudal Oligarchy" who naively believe that they are the owners of Nigeria and dictate how the country should be governed.

Call to Federal Government: Hands Off Education, Abolish UBEC Fund!

The federal government should abolish Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC Fund disbursement to the state governments because of the reluctance of state govts to mobilize counterpart cash contributions CCC, to access the humongous funds domiciled in the Banks.

In sane and sanitized Federations the world over, the Central government does not control the education sector because common sense dictates that it should be within the constitutional jurisdiction of sub national governments like Regional Governments or State Governments.

It makes no sense compelling private business establishments to forcefully contribute their hard earned money to a pool of public funds meant for disbursement to the primary school heads for upgrade of school infrastructure and amenities. Instances abound where the state governments complain that they have to deposit huge amount of money to the officers of the UBEC and other agencies before the funds were released to them.

A private school proprietor revealed that he had to part with half of the grant approved for his school before the money was released to him. He said, well, since the money was a 'dash', he had to do the bidden of the officials to have the grant released to him. Nigeria Government being irredeemably corrupt, reporting such matter to the Ministry concerned, would be a waste of time because the official you are reporting would be heavily bribed to throw the petition into the shredding machine in his office.
