The outgoing Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Aderemi Adeoye, declared his transition into full-time business during his farewell ceremony on Saturday at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
Adeoye, who served in various
police units and formations within the state, emphasized his readiness to
venture into entrepreneurship, expressing a determination to rival Africa's
wealthiest individual, Aliko Dangote.
Reflecting on his tenure,
Adeoye attributed his success to his extensive experience and service in
Anambra, stating that his background prepared him for the role of Commissioner
of Police. He recounted facing perilous situations, including encounters with
militancy groups in the Niger Delta, Boko Haram in the North East, and
addressing IPOB militancy in the South East, all of which he navigated
unscathed.
Expressing gratitude to the
Nigeria Police Force and the nation for investing in his training both
domestically and internationally, Adeoye acknowledged the collaborative efforts
of law enforcement agencies in Anambra State, highlighting the collective achievements
in maintaining peace and security.
Additionally, Adeoye revealed
his establishment of the Alpha Trust Investment Club (ATIC) Limited in 2018,
which has seen remarkable growth in its portfolio since inception. With
investments exceeding N20 billion, Adeoye announced his intent to focus on the
business full-time upon his retirement, aiming to challenge Dangote's dominance
in the industry within the next decade.
Describing Anambra State as a conducive environment with exemplary citizens, Adeoye expressed his fondness for the region and its people, refraining from any negative remarks.
In acknowledgment of his
contributions, the Anambra State Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Dr.
Onyekachi Ibezim, praised Adeoye for his pivotal role in enhancing security
during the tenure of Governor Charles Soludo. The Governor lauded Adeoye's
dedication and effectiveness in restoring calm to the state, expressing regret
over his departure while affirming his legacy through the naming of a street in
his honor and bestowing him with accolades.
Adeoye's departure marks the
conclusion of a distinguished career in law enforcement, characterized by
dedication, resilience, and a commitment to service.
