Tina Ileogben, a baker, was found slain in her residence on Olowo Street in the Alhaja Shifiwa area of Dopemu, Agege, Lagos State, with her heart reportedly removed from her chest.
The victim, who failed to
report for work at a bakery on Wednesday, prompted concern among colleagues. A
colleague dispatched to her home discovered her lifeless body upon finding the
door ajar.
Witnesses, including a resident
identified only as Segun, described the scene as one of confusion, with
Ileogben's throat slit and her heart removed. Segun stated, "The person
who perpetrated the crime slit her throat, put a hand into her neck to access
her chest and removed her heart."
Ileogben's sister, Justina,
recounted the grisly discovery, asserting her belief that Tina had been raped
before her death. Justina demanded justice and called upon the state police to
apprehend the perpetrator.
Confirming the incident, SP
Benjamin Hundeyin of the state Police Public Relations revealed that
authorities had evacuated the victim's remains for examination. He stated,
"An investigation into the case is ongoing."
