Ahead of the official
inspection and commissioning of major completed projects, including the new
pipe-borne water system in Awka by Governor Chukwuma Soludo CFR, the ANSIEC
Committee On Healthy, Clean and Sustainable Livable Environment Initiative, led
by the Awka South Mayor, extended their campaign for a healthy, clean, and
sustainable living environment to Arroma, the heart of the Anambra State
Capital.
The initiative, a result of the
ANSIEC Stakeholders Sensitization Town Hall Meeting on Environmental
Cleanliness and Proper Waste Management Practices, saw the enforcement team
embark on a campaign for massive desilting of debris in drainage systems and
evacuation of subsequent waste to ROBAN business district and Nkwo-Amenyi,
respectively.
During the exercise, Transition
Committee Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anagor,
represented by the Commander of the Dobe Awka Ocha Enforcement Team, Prince
Ikechukwu H. Ndigwe, expressed gratitude to the Awka City Mayor for his
support. Anagor emphasized the importance of maintaining clean drainages and
environments, urging collective efforts towards Governor Soludo's vision of a
cleaner and healthier environment.
The initiative aims not only to
compel residents and business owners to take responsibility for cleanliness but
also to encourage it as a regular culture. Anagor commended transport service
providers and residents at Arroma for their active participation and assured
them of support. He urged chairpersons to improve waste management practices to
safeguard public health and enhance the city's aesthetics.
Managers of Star Sunny Motors,
Awka Branch, and Ekwulobia Urban Mass Transit (EUMT) reaffirmed their support
for Governor Soludo's administration and highlighted the positive impact of a
clean environment on businesses. They commended the efforts of the government
team and pledged continuous support.
Addressing challenges posed by
natural elements and individuals' attitudes, the head of the bus stations
emphasized the importance of sustainable waste management practices. Managers
of TRACAS Motors, Aroma Branch, and LASS Beejoy Restaurant and Bar praised the
government's initiatives and committed to supporting efforts towards a clean
and prosperous environment.
In conclusion, stakeholders
hailed the Awka South Transition Committee Chairman and other relevant agencies
for their commitment to ensuring a safe, clean, and business-friendly
environment. They pledged continuous support for Governor Soludo's
"Operation Keep Anambra, Awka Capital Territory Clean Initiative."
